Let's kick off 2017 in style and jump right into hot trends and emerging fashions! Here at Lettie Gooch we did just that when we participated in Fashion Group International (FGI) DC "Spring/Summer 2017 Impact of Trends Workshop and Presentation."
Trendsetter Theresa Watts, owner of Lettie Gooch, talked international ready to wear runway trends curated by FGI, and the impact they make on today’s fashion and beauty professionals.
"I do a lot of buying by instinct," Theresa told the fashionable crowd. And her goal is to get her customer to step outside of their fashion box. Which can be a little conservative at times here in the Nation's capitol.
So what is trending at Lettie Gooch you ask?
Jumpsuits like the Floral Printed Jumpsuit are here to stay says Theresa. "I have been in business for 11 years and I have been buying jumpsuits for the past 8 years. And probably in the past 2-3 years, I have been selling them."
Statement blouses like The Bell Sleeve Lace Blouse are in says Theresa. "Statement blouses are in. Big puffy sleeves. I love that [trend of] bell sleeves."
However, as a boutique owner/buyer you have to know your customer so trends can translate in your store. MAJOR KEYS: knowing your customer, getting them to take a risk and being able to find something that is just risky enough your customer will love it in her closet.
PREPPY OXFORD SHIRTS!
The Stripes and Bow Shirtdress is a trendy take on a traditional style and Theresa definitely approves. "I grew up in a kinda preppy era. So I like that [preppy oxford shirt] trend too."
Know for being an eclectic, edgy boutique; Lettie Gooch is always looking for emerging trends. We have one word for you YELLOW!
